Tools and Resources
These are the tools I use every day in my business to make my life easier whether that’s SEO Tools, Video Creation Tools, Website Building Tools, Outsourcing Resources and other goodies.
Web Hosting
- HostGator: I use HostGator for the majority of my websites. I find they’re reliable, easy to use and their customer service is top notch. I wrote a quick blog post about web hosting and how if you need help installing your website, I’ll do it for you, more details here: Web Hosting.
Blogging
- CodeCanyon: This is the place I go for advanced WordPress plugins and themes. These guys, along with ThemeForest are great for higher quality plugins and themes. I even recently purchased the ‘Six Figure Boss‘ squeeze page from CodeCanyon. All I did was modify it’s content and it was good to go. This is where you’ll find higher quality paid plugins and WordPress themes.
Product Distribution & Shopping Carts
- E-Junkie: I have been using this simple cart for both products and services for the last 5-years. They’re cheap, easy to use and extremely versatile. They’re compatible with Paypal Standard, Paypal Pro, Google Checkout, Authorize.net, TrialPay, Clickbank & 2CheckOut. I set the cart up with product keys and when a customer pays me they get immediate access to the product or service they purchased, making my life easy.
- Clickbank: Clickbank is the largest digital marketplace in the world. I use these guys with ‘Six Figure Boss’ and a few other products of mine for product distribution and affiliate management. As a vendor I couldn’t be happier.
Landing Pages
- LeadPages: The best tool, hands down, for easily creating high-quality landing and squeeze pages. Works with WordPress and non-wordpress sites.
- OptimizePress: Another cool tool for building squeeze pages or sales page. I like this a little more then LeadPages because it’s cheaper and gives you more freedom when building your pages. It’s not as easy as LeadPages but with that you’re able create the exact pages you need for your business.
SEO Link Building Tools (Tier 1 Satellite Pages)
- Ultimate Demon: ($50 Discount Code: 4CAEFAD42A) – Ultimate Demon is a great tool for tier 1 link building. It supports a huge range of platforms. You can even add your own websites, schedule tasks and setup campaigns in minutes. It does a lot! If I were to choose between SeNuke and Ultimate Demon, I would choose Ultimate Demon hands down.
- SeNuke: (Free Trial) SeNuke is a great tool to automate the creation of satellite pages on the more popular Web 2.0 and Article Directory websites. It also helps to promote these pages through bookmarking, profile links and other methods that change from time to change. My personal usage of SeNuke has been met with great success. The power of satellite pages is amazing when created correctly. I have been able to take entire pages in Google for my targeted search terms with just SeNuke. I highly recommend the software because it has everything you need to create quality satellite pages fast!
Tools to promote your Satellite Pages
Once you have your satellite pages established, you’ll want to use the different tools below to generate their backlinks. These tools are ONLY for your satellite pages and NEVER your money pages. Since your money pages are brand new they cannot take this sort of abuse without consequences.
- GSA Search Engine Ranker: (Free trial available) GSA Search Engine Ranker is the Swiss army knife of link building. It supports over 100 platforms, scrapes targets, posts content, verifies emails and checks the links are live all in one tool. It is literally a set and forget it link builder! It’s great for those lower tier links! Again this software is NOT meant for your money pages, only your tier 2-3 web 2.0 websites which point to your Tier-1 satellite pages. GSA Search Engine Ranker is automated. It supports multiple platforms including forum profiles, web directories, videos, blogs and more. I highly recommend giving the free trial a chance.
- No Hands SEO: (Free Trial) NO Hands SEO is fully automated. It posts to blogs, trackbacks, whois postings and more. All the work is done for you, the link quality is very low but still worth it for those throw away 3rd tier satellite pages. It has a free trial so give that a go and see how you like it.
- Article Marketing Robot: Article Marketing Robot works with article directories. It’s an old program with limited support but still works. AMR is great because you can use your own list of scraped article directories that have not been heavily abused. Out of the box AMR’s success rate is very low. You need to use auto approved article directory list to have any success and you can find these lists on various marketing forums. You’ll want to use AMR primarily for your satellite pages, never your money pages.
Tip: The easiest way to build fresh list is to go Fiverr and order few AMR gigs, when your get the live link report, take those sites and add them to your list. AMR is an extremely powerful tool if used correctly.
- ArticleKevo: (Free Trial) Similar to Article Marketing Robot but it can submit to a larger variety of web 2.0 platforms. It’s updated regularly so you know it’s supported. As of right now it does not support a ton of Web 2.0 websites but they’re working it. I have not personally used this software but from recent reviews and feedback of the software it’s worth checking out the trial offer.
- ScrapeBox: ScrapeBox has a huge range of useful functions but when it comes to “comment blasts” it really is head and shoulders above the rest. Scrape a list of related WordPress blogs, and then click grab comments from harvested list. Paste into The Best Spinner, replace everyone’s favorites and voila! You now have a huge list of relevant comments to go ‘spam’ with. If you’re going to have any tool, it should be ScrapeBox.
- XRumer: The fastest and most efficient link building program out there. It has a very steep learning curve but once mastered you can post to nearly any platform you want at blistering rates. Need to create a million backlinks in a matter of hours? XRumer is king. Warning: XRumer is primarily a forum spamming tool. It’s more black hat then SeNuke and very powerful. Google does not like this method of building backlinks so be careful how you use it. In general you want to outsource this work to a 3rd party with experience. Again this is ONLY for satellite pages, NOT your money pages. I recommend limited usage of XRumer due to its power. I have had great success with it in the past and miserable failures at the same time. It’s hit-and-miss when blasting with these types of links.
- Link Wheel Bandit: (Free trial available) – Still effective but lack of recent updates by the developer has lessened it’s effectiveness. Link Wheel Bandit automates Web 2.0 property building which can be used for your 3rd tier satellite pages. That said look to Ultimate Demon instead as it’s a simpler tool and much more effective at the moment.
Tools to Track your Site Backlinks & Rankings
- SEO PowerSuite: (Limited free version available) – This has a huge range of uses and includes several pieces of software. You get Rank Tracker (the best rank tracking software in my opinion), Website Auditor (great for checking onsite issues), SEO Spyglass (download competitor backlinks) and LinkAssistant (finding link opportunities, I use it in a radical way to get guest posts though). Each tool is an industry leader in its own right and I have relied on this suite of tools for years. It is an essential suite of SEO tools that everyone should have in their arsenal.
- Ahrefs (Limited free account available) – Updated more often than SEOMoz and shows much more detailed stats. You can also use it to see if people are 301’ing aged domains to sites which you don’t see in SEOMoz, very handy! Personally I love Ahrefs; it works greats, has reports and beats most other services any day. It’s good for PPC results, spying on the competition and more. I highly recommend!
- Traffic Travis (Free Download) Find Niches, Hot Keywords, Gauge the Competition, use the free version, better gauges competition then other tools, Any keyword tool that still uses the xxx,xxx result from Google search results as a competition metric, is NOT giving you the SEO competition analysis you’re looking for, Traffic Travis uses a color-coding system to tell you what keywords to target. The software has issues from time to time but support is great. It also focuses on PPC Spying, Site Analysis and more. Overall it’s a good tool to use, give the free Trial a try.
- Majestic SEO: (Backlink Checker, Site Explorer) A great tool with a lot of support, it can be expensive but there is a free trial available. There are better tools out there to be frank without a monthly plan. I recommend SEO PowerSuite or Ahrefs instead.
- SEOMoz (Full 30 Day Trial) – SEOMoz is one of the best SEO tools to monitor your site and link building campaigns. It does it all from rank tracking to on page recommendations and you can even use it to download all of your competitors backlinks! The paid version is great but it comes at a high price. Generally I feel SEOMoz is an excellent service if you have SEO clients as the reports it generates are high quality but other than that I feel it’s too expensive.
- Inspyder Backlink Monitor Inspyder is a great tool to keep track of and monitor your back links. It also supports tiered structures and will sort out the hierarchy for you automatically, along with index checking, page rank checks, anchor text checks, reports, scheduling and more! It is a link checking tool. So if you are building links and want to make every single one of your links count, then you should be using this tool.
Keyword Research Tools
- Ultimate Niche Finder: Although the software is great, it is run by a one man show which has in the past run into server issues and lots of downtime. That said it’s a great tool that is fast and accurate. It helps you to quickly find long tail keywords in your niche. It gives you a Red, Yellow and Green light feedback to tell you if a keyword is difficult or easy to target. It takes all the guess work out of analyzing the strength of your competition. The software was released early 2012 and currently has strong support by the developer.
- Keyword Researcher: (Free Trial) – Another great piece of software for generating keyword ideas. The thing I dislike about it is the lack of search volume indication. Other than that it is easy to use and works well. If you’re having trouble coming up with LONG TAIL keyword ideas (keywords that are highly targeted) then this is the tool for you.
- Long Tail Pro: (Free Trial Available) Long Tail Pro is an extremely fast keyword research tool and with the “Platinum Add-on” will help determine the strength of your competition strength. It’s not as user friendly as some of these other tools but it’s still a great tool to try out.
- SEMRush: SEMRush is a web based service if that’s your thing. To be honest I feel it is overpriced and under-powered compared to some of other keyword research tools. Not to mention it tends to have issues at times. It works well with when combined with Ahrefs however. Personally I like some of their spying features but other than that there are better options out there. Give them a try and see what you think.
- Seo Book Keyword Suggestion Tool: Another fantastic keyword research tool, with even more information and numbers to compare and select the perfect keywords.
- UberSuggest.org: A crazy easy to use web based tool that spits out keyword suggestions based on your seed keyword. Simply enter your main niche keyword and it will do the rest. It’s fast and free, can’t get any better than that.
Tools for Content Creation
- Kontent Machine (Free trial available) – The best content generator I have ever used. It’s an absolute god send when it comes to generating content quickly. Enter your keywords and click start and you will have all the content you need for your lower tiers in minutes. Creates articles and bookmarks titles/descriptions that can be exported in any format you need. Can’t recommend this enough, and I hate software with monthly fees.
- TheBestSpinner (Trial available) – Used to spin your content by replacing synonyms, sentences and even entire paragraphs of your article making your content unique. Remember we said Search Engines want quality UNIQUE content, not duplicate content? You can use one article, spin it and create unique pieces of content hundreds of times to use on your lowered tiered satellite pages. My personal experience has been great with this software. I find it’s easy to use and the quality of content you get back is great. I use this with SeNuke and have had great results. It can also integrated with tools like Kontent Machine to auto spin articles you get back.
Video
- ScreenFlow (for Mac users) – Screen capture software for the Mac.
- Camtasia for PC (Camtasia Studio) – I have a love hate relationship with Camtasia. I like Camtasia when it works… and while that’s a majority of the time it just takes a couple crashes on you in the middle of a recording that can make you want to go postal.
- Debut Video Capture: There is NO easier way to create a video that is ready to upload to YouTube then Debut Video Capture. I use Debut for those one-take videos that I want to get out quickly. I press record and then press stop, and I have a video created ready to be uploaded. It’s that easy.
- SplashEO (for Awesome Intro and Outro Graphics): If you want professional looking intros and outros for your videos, this is the place to go. Check it out!
- LeadPlayer By using this tool, I can include calls to actions, or opt-in form at the end of the videos…right inside the video itself!
Professional Outsourcing Services
These sorts of websites are more professional and safer than niche forums but the quality here is usually not as good as you would get from dedicated internet marketing forums where the pros hang out. These sites are GREAT overall but when it comes to SEO you may have better luck in the large internet marketing forums instead.
- ODesk – Where I get most of my work outsourced. I LOVE oDesk and use it for a variety of tasks.
- Fiverr: You get what you pay for so don’t expect miracles or QUALITY work but you can find extremely cheap internet marketing services provided here. I like to find XRumer blast here for 3rd tier satellite pages and social related tasks. You can find great services here if you look around.
- 99Designs: This is a unique website that you can use if you need a logo or website template quickly. I used these guys for the ‘Six Figure Boss’ logo and a couple other logo designs.
Autoresponder
- AWeber (Full 30 Day Trial / $1) – I use AWeber with SixFigureBoss.com and all my other ventures online. They are affordable, easy to use and deliverability rates are high.
- GetResponse (Full 30 Day Trial) – The rival of Aweber, GetResponse offers a similar feature set. It really is just a matter of personal preference between the two of them! Personally I used both services and find AWeber to be of higher quality.
- Constant Contact: Constant Content is the first bulk email sender I used for my business back in the day. It was great for its purpose but it was expensive! The thing I like about Constant Contact that other providers above don’t feature is the ability to upload your own approved email list. There was a strict no-spam policy obviously with strikes against your account if you had too many spam complaints but overall it’s a trusted solid service that works.
Books
- Six Figure Boss: The complete step-by-step guide to making money online! I had to plug my own book in the book section!
- The 4-Hour Work Week: by Timothy Ferriss, Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich: Everything made sense once I read this book. It completely changed how I did business online, I mean completely! Get it and study!
- All Marketers Are Liars by Seth Godin: An amazing book on the usage of storytelling to sell your products or services. It also explains many different strategies in marketing that work to build your customer loyalty and word of mouth marketing. I have read similar books; this is the best of those.
- The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco: Where the ‘4-Hour Work Week’ teaches outsourcing and automating, MJ DeMarco wants you to setup your business systems. A system that runs the business and does much more then you ever could. And it’s this system that creates a millionaire. At least that’s what I got out of the book. Overall I found it to be a great read that changed how I thought about doing business online via systems.
