Keyword Ranking (Building the System)

Previously we’ve talked about ‘creating a sales page‘ and  how to ‘offer services to your customers‘ to increase your income, but now I want to talk about traffic!

Without targeted traffic you’re not going to make money online. With SFB I cover everything: product creation, building your website and how to generate tons of targeted traffic.

Now when we talk about traffic, you can get it many different of ways, whether that’s social marketing, email marketing, forums, YouTube, AutoBlogs or SEO.

Search Engine traffic is the most TARGETED traffic you can get because of the nature of the search engines (they’re targeted). You won’t find targeted traffic on social networks (not yet). YouTube is becoming more targeted but it’s no search engine. Don’t get me wrong, I love YouTube.

So you’ll want to be in the search engines!

Personally I’m at that point in my Internet Marketing career where I’ll happily pay someone else to drive huge amounts of targeted traffic to my businesses then to do the work myself. I rather pay a guy then spend a lot of time on the grunt work myself. I’m not sure how you feel about this but personally it’s where I’m at with my business.

I rather spend my time on the business (the system).

The system is my business. Instead of doing the back breaking work myself, I build a system first (the business) and have it do all the work. It’s about working smart and not hard. Makes sense right? Taking some time to think about your strategy before taking action. That’s a bit off topic I know, but it ties in with SEO marketing.

I posed a question to my SEO marketing buddy who makes a living providing ‘SEO services’. I told him I wanted 200-leads a day and asked him what it would take on his end to achieve this.

Without thinking, I quickly realized it was a stupid question. Then I posed a second question: I need 1000 targeted visitors a day to a certain web page and that I would take care of the rest, what was his thoughts. He asked about my current traffic (web stats) and wanted to compare that with my sign-up rates. I wasn’t prepared.

I was in a power position and just wanted what I wanted. I LIKED the feeling but I could also see myself in the shoes of millions of local business owners who were simply talking to the help. I didn’t care how it was done, I just wanted it done.

And that’s obviously the wrong approach.

* Edit. On second thought I feel I posed those questions to gauge this response. It was a test without knowing it because if he answered incorrectly I would not go with his services. And I’m glad he answered in the way that he did. He basically said, “you’re looking at it all wrong” and explained further. I’d like to think I subconsciously asked ill-prepared questions to test his response.

I’m talking about ‘Six Figure Boss‘, itself, if that wasn’t clear. Up to this point I have done very little marketing, it’s all ‘word of mouth’ and while that has proven fruitful I’m gearing up to take it to the next level. While I’d love to do the grunt work of generating thousands of targeted visitors a day, it’s not how things work. When running a business, you can only handle so much; I can only handle so much and to grow you need to let go of some control and let others help.

While I’d love to do SEO work and get ranking for ‘money keywords‘ my time is better spent on creating a better system. The system is automated, outsourced and works while I sleep. It’s a machine. I build the system. I have others working for me to help with that system, but for the most part, the system is my baby.

My friend is a SEO marketer. He wants numbers. He speaks in keyword rankings. He delivers his service in his ability to rank in the search engines for certain keywords. And in that ranking, you get targeted traffic.

Makes sense right? The search engines deliver highly targeted traffic. You want to rank in the search engines for your money keywords; the keywords your customers are SEARCHING for to PURCHASE your products and services. If you’re ranking high for those keywords, you make money from the search engines.

Easy enough right?

So how do we rank in the search engines for our keywords? That’s where this handy ‘SEO Link Building Guide‘ comes into play! I took a couple days to write the guide and feel it’s pretty solid.

It’s about creating satellite pages to build up your presence in the search engines for your money keywords. I like to use tools to build up my satellite pages. I like to manually build up my ‘1st tier‘ satellite pages and use tools to promote those pages.

I’ll also build mini-websites and utilize other SEO tricks to get ranking.

Ranking #1 for your money keyword is great but it’s not everything. Make sure to read the ‘Keyword section‘ in SFB to understand why it’s important to choose the right keywords. The system does the work while we sleep. We don’t break our backs doing all the work ourselves. With a system, it’s not limited by our own efforts, it doesn’t get tired, it’s a machine. Think system!
